ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries Hammad Azhar On Thursday asserted that the federal government has a zero-tolerance policy on hoarding.

The prices of goods are being monitored. The government has a zero tolerance policy on hoarding, cartelisation or violation of SOPs by industries/commercial entitites that have been allowed to operate under the present circumstances.

According to him, no leniency will be shown to those who are involved in hoarding, cartelisation, or violation of Standard operating procedure (SOP)s by industries entities.
Earlier, Azhar said that the federal government was bringing new legislation in the next few days to take strict action against the hoarders. He further said that under the legislation, those involved in the hoarding would be arrested.
He further said that there was no shortage of essential commodities in the country. “Supply chains of essential items were open to ensure their availability across the country,” he said.
The federal minister also announced that the subsidies on essential commodities would continue even after the month of Ramzan. “Utility Stores Corporation was being used to stabilise the prices of essential commodities in the open market,” he said.
He also announced that the government had given an additional 50 billion rupees to the Utility Stores Corporation to maintain adequate sufficient stocks.
