The federal government has fixed the minimum Diyat (blood money) amount at Rs 19,352,390 for the 2026–27 fiscal year, doubling the money from the previous year.
After substantial increase in the price of silver, the government has raised the Diyat amount by nearly 97% for FY 2026-27, setting it at Rs19,352,390, compared with Rs9,828,670 during the previous fiscal year.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance notification, the new amount represents an increase of Rs9,523,720, or around 96.9%, compared with the amount fixed for FY 2025-26.
This value is based on the current market price of 30,630 grams of silver under Section 323 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Under Pakistan’s criminal justice system, Diyat is paid in cases where a settlement or compromise between parties is legally permissible.
The federal government reviews the amount annually in line with prevailing silver prices, as required under the Pakistan Penal Code.
The Ministry of Finance said the revised Diyat amount will remain applicable during fiscal year 2026-27 under Section 323 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
