RAWALPINDI: Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the government is committed to ensuring the availability of sugar at special Ramazan bazaars across the country on the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Talking to the media after visiting Ramzan Sahulat Bazaar at Allama Iqbal Park, Dr Firdous said the government is providing 20 rupees per kilogram subsidy to consumers on sugar. The Punjab government has established 364 Ramazan bazaars to provide relief to the public, the Special Assistant informed.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said the Sharif’s should produce the evidence of ownership of Jati Umrah palace before the court of law instead of using it as a media stunt. She renewed the pledge that the government was pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against the land mafia without any discrimination.
Ashiq Awan said the Punjab government has made a comprehensive mechanism to regularize housing societies on the order of the High Court, adding, those who looted the money of innocent people in the name of fake housing societies would be dealt with iron hands.
She said that PM Imran wanted to see Lahore on the list of developed cities of the world and he inaugurated the revolutionary project “Green Central Business District” and under this project, a new city would be set up in the provincial capital.
She said that our “economic, digital and residential requirements are associated with this project” which would be completed in three phases. She said this project was a reflection of the concept of vertical development and would help in promoting different industries and ultimately yield positive results.
Dr Firdous said this project would help in addressing major challenges such as unemployment and poverty alleviation. She highlighted that the government was keen to launch self-sustainable job-creating projects to usher in development in vital sectors of the economy.
