KARACHI: Shoppers and households received welcome news today as gold and silver prices dipped across local markets, making jewellery and savings purchases more affordable.

The All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association reported that 24-karat gold per tola fell by Rs 3,800 to Rs 479,962, while 10 grams of 24-karat gold dropped Rs 3,257 to Rs 411,490. 22-karat gold per 10 grams also slid to Rs 377,212, down Rs 2,986.

Silver mirrored the trend, with 24-karat silver per tola easing Rs100 to Rs7,914, and 10 grams of silver declining Rs86 to Rs6,784.

Internationally, gold slipped $38 to $4,576 per ounce, while silver shed $1 to $74.30 per ounce.

Jewellers say the decline is timely, especially for families preparing for wedding season, as lower rates could ease the burden of high costs. Analysts add that the softer prices may encourage small investors and savers to re-enter the market, turning today’s dip into a silver lining for the public.
