RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmad Anjum has been appointed as the new Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
He replaces Lt General Faiz Hameed who was earlier posted as the Peshawar corps commander. The decision to appoint the new ISI chief was done after consultation between Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, Lt Gen Mohammad Saeed has been posted as the Karachi corps commander, Lt Gen Nauman Mehmood has been appointed the president of the National Defence University, and General Muhammad Amir has been appointed as Commander Gujranwala Corps. Maj Gen Asim Malik has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant general as well as appointed as the army’s adjutant general.
Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum was currently posted as Corps Commander in Karachi. He has also served as Inspector General (IG) Frontier Corps.
Earlier on Wednesday, Army Chief Gen Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad. They exchanged views on the professional preparedness and capabilities of the Pakistan Army. He also briefed the prime minister on the Corps Commander Conference and other affairs.
