Gal Gadot to produce Israeli drama ‘Queens’ for US

NEW YORK: Isreali Actress Gal Gadot has planned to produce an American adaptation of the Israeli comedy series “Malkot” (Queens).
The “Wonder Woman” actress along with her husband will develop a US version of the series, about the women who take over their family’s crime syndicate.

Gadot and Jaron Varsano will executive produce the drama via their Pilot Wave banner. Endemol Shine North America and Endemol Shine Israel will produce.
Gadot and Varsano said in a joint statement, “We are so excited to celebrate these women through the ‘Queens’ story. These complex characters are captivating, delightfully funny and emotional.”
They added, “It is rare to find content that conveys characters in such a truthful way while mirroring society. We are looking forward to bringing their story to the world and working with the Endemol Shine team on this project.”

The first season, which launched in October 2018, was HOT’s most-watched series of the year. The original series was created by Gal Zaid, Dani Rosenberg, Ruth Zaid, and Dror Nobleman and based on an idea by Limor Nahmias.
The drama follows the women of the Malka family who, after their men are murdered by a rival crime syndicate, band together to take over the family business. HOT has greenlit a second season of Queens, which will premiere in 2020.
