The Pakistani rupee edged slightly higher against the US dollar in the inter-bank market on Monday.
By the close of trading, the local currency settled at 278.60 per dollar, marking a marginal gain of Rs0.01 compared to the previous session.
On Friday, the rupee had closed at 278.61 against the greenback.
Meanwhile, the US dollar strengthened against most major currencies on Monday as renewed tensions in the Middle East pushed oil prices higher and a global bond selloff weighed on investor sentiment. Weakness in the Japanese yen also kept markets cautious amid speculation of possible intervention by Japanese authorities.
The euro slipped more than 0.1% to $1.1609, while the British pound declined to $1.3305.
