The prices of 17 essential items, including chicken and eggs, witnessed an increase as weekly inflation recorded a modest uptick during the week ended December 18, 2025, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The Federal Bureau of Statistics has released its weekly report on inflation, showing a weekly increase of 0.24% in the inflation rate, while the annual inflation rate has decreased to 3.75%.
According to the report, prices of 17 items rose over the week, while 14 items saw a decline.
Data shows that during the past week, chicken became 40.34 rupees more expensive per kilogram, eggs increased by 10.31 rupees per dozen, and firewood went up by 12.35 rupees per maund.
Similarly, moong dal rose by 1.17 rupees per kilogram, while yogurt, fresh milk, mutton, and powdered milk were also among the items that became more expensive.
On the other hand, tomatoes decreased by 9.01 rupees per kilogram, potatoes fell by 5.08 rupees per kilogram, and sugar became 7.09 rupees cheaper per kilogram over the week.
The report also said that diesel, masoor dal, and LPG cylinders were among the items that became cheaper, while prices of bread, wheat flour, clothing, and 20 other items remained stable.
