ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has assured Pakistan’s complete support to the Afghan peace process and expressed that he wants Afghan refugees to return home with dignity.
Addressing a conference at the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that they consider the success of the reconciliation process in Afghanistan as their success.
“Peace and stability in Afghanistan is very important for Pakistan,” he maintained. “Peace in the region is conditional on peace in Afghanistan. The international community is supporting a political solution to the Afghan problem.”
The foreign minister said Pakistan has no favorites and it does not want to meddle in the internal affairs of Afghanistan. As the intra-Afghan dialogue is continuing, he said Pakistan will accept the will of the people of Afghanistan.

The foreign minister said that the peace process was discussed in the talks with the Chairman of the Reconciliation Council Abdullah Abdullah, adding that the start of the inter-Afghan talks was a very important step.
Addressing the function, Qureshi said that Islamabad and Kabul would have to move forward to resolve the issues and forget the mistakes of the past for a better future.
The foreign minister said that friendly and fraternal relations are the best for the people of both the countries, we have to be aware of the elements that are harming the peace process and the Afghan leadership has to take advantage of this opportunity for peace.
