TEHRAN: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS & CDF, met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran as part of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.
According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the meeting took place on Friday and continued late into the night. Both sides discussed diplomatic initiatives focused on preventing further escalation and restoring peace, stability, and security in the Middle East.
The talks focused on the ongoing Iran-US-Israel tensions and explored ways to strengthen regional stability in West Asia. Pakistan’s mediation efforts regarding the Iran-US conflict and broader diplomatic engagement in the region also came under discussion.
Earlier, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said COAS Syed Asim Munir arrived in Tehran as part of Pakistan’s continued diplomatic outreach and mediation efforts for regional peace.
Upon arrival, he was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, while Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was also present.
According to ISPR, the visit reflects Pakistan’s broader efforts to facilitate dialogue and maintain communication channels between Iran and other regional stakeholders through diplomatic engagement.
During the visit, COAS Asim Munir is expected to hold meetings with senior Iranian officials to discuss regional security developments, diplomatic coordination, and matters of mutual interest.
Pakistan has actively supported dialogue and diplomatic communication in recent months to help reduce tensions and promote stability in the region.
Tensions escalated after the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran on February 28. Iranian authorities claimed the attacks targeted senior officials, military commanders, civilian infrastructure, residential areas, educational institutions, and historical and cultural sites.
