KARACHI: A variety of traditional cuisines delighted visitors at a food festival organized by the Dawoodi Bohra community.
Mohammad Abbas, the organizer of the food festival, while giving details to MM News, said that they have got a very good response in the food festival yesterday, but today they getting more response as compared to yesterday.
He said that there is a plate system here, apart from this there are open tickets to come here, many scouts are rendering their services, and different types of food are available. “Whatever you want you can grab it and enjoy.”
Muhammad Abbas said that basically, this is our culture, everyone who is busy all day, by eating in a plate, the whole family sits together and eats on the same plate.
He said that we start with sweets, then in the second item we come to kharat, besides roti curry, biryani, finally fruits and salad etc., and a paan. It happens, that’s the way we have traditional things, that we follow and that’s the way we eat.
Abbas said that first, we taste the salt and finally we taste the salt when we get up, we try to keep the portion on the plate so that eight people can eat it so that nothing is wasted.
He said that this is the first event in which they have invited the whole of Karachi and Alhamdulillah, there has been a very good response from Karachities.
