Dr Mahnoor Nasir, the female doctor injured in an acid attack in Quetta, is likely to undergo major plastic surgery within the next few hours as doctors continue consultations on her treatment, hospital sources said.
The doctors treating Dr Mahnoor said her condition is no longer in danger, although she is expected to remain under medical care for several more weeks.
She suffered deep injuries to her face, including the outer parts of her eyes, lips and nose. Sources said doctors performed a procedure on her lips on Sunday as part of her ongoing treatment.
An ophthalmologist conducted a detailed examination of her eyes and found that her eyesight remains safe. However, she has complained of slight blurring of vision, according to hospital sources.
Doctors said the acid attack has also left her under severe mental stress and anxiety.
A team of specialists has conducted various medical tests and consultations to assess the extent of her injuries and determine the next phase of treatment.
Hospital sources said Dr Mahnoor is likely to undergo multiple surgeries at different stages of her recovery. A final decision on the planned plastic surgery is expected after consultations are completed.
