The Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M-11) has been temporarily closed for traffic due to dense fog, Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed said on Saturday.
According to the Motorway Police, the decision to close the motorway was taken to protect the lives and property of the public, as reduced visibility during foggy conditions significantly increases the risk of accidents.
The spokesperson warned that lane violations in fog can lead to dangerous and even fatal incidents.
Syed Imran Ahmed urged road users to strictly follow lane discipline and avoid unnecessary travel during foggy conditions.
He advised motorists to prefer travelling during daytime hours, adding that the safest time for travel in fog is between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
The Motorway Police further instructed drivers to ensure the use of fog lights, avoid speeding, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead to prevent collisions.
Motorists were also reminded to remain cautious and patient while driving in low-visibility conditions.
