LAHORE: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar called on Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-Ur-Rehman at Governor’s House here on Sunday.

According to official sources, Dar discussed current political and economic condition of the country with Governor Muhammad Baligh-Ur-Rehman. Officials said the minister also felicitated Muhammad Baligh-Ur-Rehman on taking charge as the Punjab governor.

Sources, however, said Ishaq Dar said the current PMLN-led PDM government was committed to put the country on the path of development. He blamed former PTI-led government for current economic crisis, alleging that coalition government inherited a record deficit and huge debt of previous government.

Interestingly, it was none other than Ishaq Dar himself who claimed in the first week of October to bring down the value of US Dollar against rupee below 200 mark. His claims, before becoming finance minister, include striking deals with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and bringing the economy back on track, something yet to be materialized.
