Paramount Pictures has reportedly postponed its planned three-week shoot in of Tom Cruise’s new Mission Impossible 7 in Italy due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
Paramount spokesperson in a statement said, “Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three-week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for Mission Impossible 7.”
The spokesperson further said that the studio has allowed the film crew and cast to return home during the delayed time and the studio would monitor the situation in the country.
The spokesperson didn’t give remarks on when the production will start again.
The production was planned to start on Monday in Venice, where the final two days of lagoon city’s annual Carnival festival was canceled on Sunday.
The 7th installment of the Mission Istanbul is expected to be released in July 2021, with an eighth set for 2022.
In Italy, coronavirus cases climbed above 220 on Monday as Italy shut down much of its wealthy north to curb the disease’s outbreak.
