ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a telephonic conversation with his Australian counterpart, Marise Payne, today (Thursday).
According to a statement released by Foreign Office, both the personalities discussed the situation arising out of coronavirus pandemic and matters of mutual interests.
FM Qureshi briefed the Australian foreign minister regarding the steps taken by Pakistan in order to halt the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The foreign minister also underscored the difficulties faced by the developing countries due to limited economic resources to cope with the challenge.
FM Qureshi also highlighted Prime Minister Imran Khan’s call for debt relief and restructuring of their loans so that they could divert their resources to meet this challenge and to ensure the safety of human lives.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi also appreciated the steps taken by the Australian government for the wellbeing of Pakistani nationals especially the students at this critical juncture.
Referring to violations of human rights in Indian occupied Kashmir, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the Indian government has restricted the people of occupied Kashmir to their homes since 5th August last year.
The foreign minister further said, “India is trying to change the demography of the IoK which is a violation of all international laws including the UN Security Council resolutions.”
