ISLAMABAD: Pakistan-Iran border has continued to close on the third day today (Tuesday) as fears across the region raise over a climb in new coronavirus infections.
According to Pakistani officials, the government has set up a particular screening process for the checkup of over 271 quarantined passengers, who have been given transitory residence at the border.
Assistant Commissioner at the Taftan border, Najeebullah Qambrani said that on the orders of high-ups it was decided to keep all people under observation for the next 15 days.
On the other hand, Balochistan’s secretary of health Mudassir Malik confirmed that about 200 to 250 people were being held and they had quarantined.
The outbreak of the coronavirus has spread to more than 26 countries across the globe, with more than 2,500 dead in China, and is causing rising alarm due to new pockets of outbreaks in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
