ISLAMABAD: PM’s Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr. Zafar Mirza has said that all passengers were being screened at border crossing with Iran.
In a statement, Dr. Zafar Mirza said that a well-trained team of doctors and medical staff were present at Taftan to screen all the passengers.
He said that no case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Pakistan so far, adding that the government was ready to deal with any eventuality.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has also closed its border with Iran at Taftan temporarily in this regard.
The Balochistan government has also imposed an emergency in the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on the directives of Chief Minister Jam Kamal.
CM Jam Kamal further directed to establish emergency centre at Taftan border with doctors posted to screen pilgrims coming from Iran.
It is worth mentioning here that CM Jam Kamal telephoned Prime Minister Imran Khan and Dr. Zafar Mirza to discuss measures to deal with coronavirus.
The deadly virus has claimed six lives in Iran. A further 28 people have been tested positive for the virus in Iran.
