KARACHI: National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) has demanded that separate control rooms for coronavirus information should be established in every district of the Karachi Division.
NFEH President Naeem Qureshi said that concerned health officials of the Sindh government should establish a hotline with the federal government to contact each other to effectively deal with the coronavirus health emergency in the city.
Naeem Qureshi said “It is very unfortunate that even in the previous day; the Sindh Chief Minister was seen complaining that he personally was not being contacted by the federal authorities for a joint strategy against the coronavirus spread.
NFEH President said that the Sindh government should take emergency steps to ensure the availability of surgical masks against the spread of coronavirus among the people of risk-prone communities in the metropolis.
Qureshi said that provincial authorities should launch a crackdown against the unscrupulous elements that were responsible for hoarding and unnecessary jacking up the prices of surgical masks causing undue hardships to people in Karachi.
NFEH President demanded that the municipal authorities in the metropolis should come into action to improve the sanitation situation in Karachi to put off the possible outbreak of any viral epidemic in the city.
Qureshi said that eateries and restaurants in the city should be made to observe stringent measures to ensure cleanliness so that their food service should not become a carrier of epidemic diseases for the sake of the safety of their customers.
