Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, inaugurated the Command and Control Center for the People’s Bus Service on Tuesday.
According to a report by Pak Observer, this state-of-the-art facility has been established at the Sindh Mass Transit Authority’s office in Clifton, Karachi. The center is designed to oversee, facilitate, and live-track all operations of the People’s Bus Service, ensuring seamless functionality and efficient management of the transport system across Sindh.
During the inauguration ceremony, Sharjeel Inam Memon addressed the media, emphasizing the importance of the new Command and Control Center. He explained that the facility would provide real-time monitoring and guidance to ensure the bus service operates effectively. The system will focus on passenger convenience, monitoring live video feeds, and ensuring staff adherence to protocols. He added that any issues, such as overcharging of fares or misconduct, could be reported through dedicated complaint channels.
The Command and Control Center also introduces enhanced security measures for passengers. If a passenger’s belongings are stolen or lost, the incident will be captured on the live monitoring cameras, aiding in quick resolution. Memon highlighted that this is the first time such an advanced system has been implemented in Sindh, comparable to those in developed countries. Additionally, complaint numbers have been made available, allowing for timely redressal of grievances.
Sharjeel Inam Memon further stated that the Sindh government is committed to bringing modern amenities to its people. Following the introduction of a card system for ticket purchases, this latest development is part of an ongoing effort to improve public transportation. The government plans to unveil even more facilities to enhance the quality of life for residents of the province, aligning local services with global standards.
Addressing a question from the media, Memon criticized a specific group planning protests on November 24, accusing them of promoting unrest and disorder in the country. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring stability and progress, dismissing any attempts to disrupt the peace. This initiative for the People’s Bus Service, he noted, is a testament to the Sindh government’s vision for a more modern and inclusive public transport system.
