Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has approved more than Rs 10 billion for the improvement of Karachi’s basic infrastructure, aimed at upgrading roads, traffic flow, and the city’s transport system.
The approval was given during a high-level meeting on Karachi mega development projects, chaired by the chief minister.
The session reviewed 10 major initiatives focusing on traffic management, road rehabilitation, and improvements in public transport infrastructure.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s House, Murad Ali Shah sanctioned over Rs 10 billion in funding to enhance Karachi’s core infrastructure and directed authorities to ensure timely completion of all ongoing development projects in the city.
During the briefing, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab presented details of an alternative corridor project from Azeempura to Landhi Murtaza Chowrangi. The project, estimated to cost Rs 582 million, is expected to ease traffic congestion by diverting flow towards Shahrah-e-Bhutto, thereby reducing pressure on residential areas.
On this, the chief minister instructed the provincial Local Government Department to immediately submit the project for formal approval.
Murad Ali Shah underscored the need for integrated planning and swift execution of development schemes, noting that Karachi’s growing population and increasing traffic demands require urgent and coordinated infrastructure upgrades.
