ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has declared the chemical castration of rapists and sexual offenders against the tenets of Islam.
According to news sources, the Council suggested that alternative punishments should be considered, instead of chemically castrating the rapist and sexual offenders. The CII chairman said, “If the convict is married, then chemical castration will tantamount to punishing the wife too”.
Moreover, the two-day meeting of the Council of Islamic Ideology took up several issues, including a review of the Criminal Law Amendment Ordinance of 2020 for making it compliant with the Shariah.

“There are other stiffer punishments, such as imprisonment till death, which can be considered instead of chemical castration.” said the CII Chairman.
Last year, President Arif Alvi signed new anti-rape law to ensure speedy trial of rape cases. Under the Anti-Rape Ordinance, 2020 approved by the president all cases related to rape will be wrapped up by the special courts within four months. Though, according to the new law, the repeated offenders were allowed to be chemically castrated using “anti-libidinal” treatment.
