JEHLUM: Renowned social media cleric, Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza, has been accused of blasphemy in his home town of Jehlum. The allegations against him include ridiculing Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and downplaying the non-Muslim status of Qadyanis.
According to the FIR, a case of blasphemy has been registered against Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza under section 295C.
This section of the Pakistan Penal Code states that “Whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) shall be punished with death or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable to fine.”
The case has sparked controversy and debate among the public, with some supporting the accusations and others defending Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza.
However, not all agree with the allegations leveled in FIR.
Social media users erupted in anger and posted clips of his interview in which he was seen questioning Army’s role in politics.

I strongly condemns the fake blasphemy case against Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza.
He had come out openly in favor of Imran Khan and against the company for the past few days, so he is being targeted under the guise of religion, which is condemnable.#EngineerMuhammadAliMirza pic.twitter.com/mKQgSIPRUs— Tehreem Iftikhar (@Tehreem_Pak) April 8, 2023
