RAWALPINDI: The newly-appointed British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dr Christian Turner, on Wednesday called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa here at the General Headquarters.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Gen Bajwa “welcomed him to Pakistan and wished him well for the assignment. During the meeting matters of mutual interests were discussed”.
The army chief expressed well wishes for Dr Turner on his assignment here in Pakistan, the ISPR said.

Separately, the army chief also met the Russia’s minister of industry and trade, Denis Valentinovich Manturov, and discussed matters of mutual interest during the meeting.
General Bajwa and Manturov reiterated the wish to further bolster bilateral relations for peace and stability, as well as for economic prosperity in the region, the ISPR said.
Earlier today, the Russian minister had said it was willing to expand cooperation with Pakistan on multiple fronts, including industrial sector, agriculture, energy, medicine, and railways, according to Radio Pakistan.
Manturov made the remarks during the sixth meeting of Pakistan-Russia Inter-governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific Technical Cooperation at the Foreign Office in Islamabad.
