ANF soldier martyred in encounter with drug-peddlers in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A soldier of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) was martyred and two others injured during an operation against drug-peddlers in Barakahu area of Islamabad on Friday.
According to ANF source, on a tip-off, the ANF team conducted a targeted raid at a house in Barakahu, over the presence of drug-peddlers. Seeing the team the criminals opened fire. As a result,  a solder sustained severe bullet injuries and died on the spot, while two cops were also injured in the shootout.
After the shootout, more contingent of police was called in the area. The smugglers are hiding in a house, said ANF official. The body and injured were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively.
During the search operation for the arrest of the accused, six persons including Muhammad Faizan, an accomplice of the main accused Yasir, have been arrested. The arrested accused and the recovered drugs have been shifted to ANF Headquarters.
Earlier, two personnel of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) were martyred and six injured in an attack by terrorists in the Mashkel area of Balochistan.
The ANF spokesperson had said that two officials were martyred and six injured in a rocket attack and firing resorted to by a group of terrorists and smugglers.
The spokesman further said the raiding team of ANF was returning to headquarters after seizing a huge quantity of narcotics. Later, a group of 50-60 assailants attacked the ANF team.
