ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday set 29th October as the hearing of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s appeal in the Al Azizia case.
A bench of the high court will also hear an appeal of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the same date seeking enhancement in conviction period of Sharif.
A division bench of the high court will hear the case and the Registrar Office of the court has issued the cause list.
Earlier on Friday, Nawaz Sharif was arrested by the NAB regarding the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case and the bureau obtained a 14-day physical remand of the former premier. The court ordered the bureau to present Nawaz Sharif on 25th October.
In 2018, Nawaz Sharif was arrested and imprisoned for seven years in the Al-Azizia case by the accountability court.
Sharif is currently serving a jail term of 7-years at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore on being proven guilty in the Al-Azizia case filed by the NAB.
