Aamer Jamal created the record for the highest score by a Pakistan batter at No. 9 in Tests in Australia during the third match in Sydney on Wednesday.
Jamal, with his 82 off 97, crossed the previous best by Wasim Bari, who had managed 72 runs off 113 deliveries in Adelaide in 1972.
In the third and last Test of the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Amir displayed his best batting performance to date after showing flashes of it in the second Test. With nine fours and four sixes while batting at No. 9, Jamal amassed 82 runs off of 97 balls.

To the frustration of the Australian bowlers, Jamal reached his half-century off 71 balls. Along with Mir Hamza, he also shared an 86-run partnership that propelled Pakistan over the 300-run threshold. It took 77.1 overs to bowl out the visiting squad for 313 runs.
Jamal has a job ahead of him after dominating with the bat as Pakistan looks to limit Australia to a modest score. He amassed two half-centuries in thirty first-class cricket outings prior to the SCG Test. Jamal has the potential to be a productive all-around player for Pakistan in all formats if given the right training.
