The Sindh government has launched an electric vehicle (EV) scheme aimed at providing unemployed youth with EV taxis through affordable installment plans.
The project is set to be launched soon, with the first batch of EV taxis intended to offer unemployed youth in Sindh a reliable and affordable income opportunity.
Designed to address rising youth unemployment, the program will provide eco-friendly EV taxis, enabling young people to generate income through driving.
Sharjeel Inam Memon, Senior Provincial Minister, has instructed the Secretary of Transport to collaborate with banks and financial institutions to explore various financing options for the scheme. The goal is to create flexible repayment plans that will allow individuals to gradually own the taxis.
In a recent meeting with officials from a Karachi-based company that assembles EV taxis, Minister Memon was informed about the environmental benefits of these vehicles. He emphasized that offering EV taxis on easy installments would not only create jobs but also align with the provincial government’s vision for a greener Sindh.
