The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief, who is fond of the politics of resigning from the assemblies or dissolving them, had to face a big embarrassment at the front of the National Assembly. Just when the MQM-P was practicing its traditional blackmailing cynicism, Khan announced his return to the National Assembly. It is possible that Khan Sahib’s announcement and MQM-P’s blackmailing are not part of a single plan. But with the sudden turn of events regarding the Punjab Assembly, Khan Sahib’s announcement and the blackmailing of the MQM-P gave the impression of a plan. But as soon as Khan announced his return to the National Assembly, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf accepted the resignations of 70 PTI members in two installments and it is expected that one more installment will be given to Khan.
Khan Sahib had to suffer this shock because the PDM had been constantly encouraging him to return to the National Assembly. He couldn’t understand that the motivation was for Khan Sahib to leave the talk of bringing down the system and become a part of it. But when he broke the assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and that too in the year of general elections, why would anyone leave them in the National Assembly? Why will the National Assembly be allowed to become a playground for someone who is obstinate?
Khan Sahib’s problem is that he loves the National Assembly only if it makes his power possible. If his government is not there, they even curse the same assembly in his speeches. Only the curse does regular attack on the assembly building. Is it only Khan Sahib, who is devoid of civilization, even allies like Sheikh Rashid are found shouting like fire, burn, demolish. Lust for power and that too of this level? God’s Refuge this is the quality of the democratic system that no single family, group or party can have a permanent grip on power. Under this system, power can only last for a long time.
Every party in the political arena aspires to power. That is why even a leader with the shortest mandate like Siraj Lala has to say that if the people give him a chance to govern, he will take such and such steps for public welfare. We do not laugh at such statements because every party that believes in electoral politics and wants to reach power through it has the right to make such statements. But the important point is that the parties in the political arena for power never give the impression that the lust for power is dying. It has been ten years since the government of the Pakistan People’s Party ended at the centre. Has anyone seen Mr. Zardari or Bilawal desperate for power?
When the People’s Party got a limited mandate, this party accepted the role of opposition in the democratic system with a smile. In the third term of Nawaz Sharif, despite being in the opposition, the People’s Party did not support the PTI by being opportunistic in its activities against the assembly. Rather, it stood with the government to save the assembly from which it had no hope of power. The same practice was also followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the Assembly from 2008 to 2013. It is a well-known principle of politics that when you go to an election, it is decided that either you will get power or the opposition benches. Political parties have a tradition of accepting both these roles with a smile.
This decision has to be made by the people as to who should be given power and who should be given the role of the opposition. So the mature political parties accept the role given to them by accepting these decisions of the people. But Imran Khan’s problem is that he does not accept any role except power. And he wants power as a gift that does not have to be deposited in toshakhana. The gift that Faiz Hameed and Bajwa give them. Claiming to be popular has its own place, but isn’t this power being sought from the generals even today? Let the establishment run the government, let the establishment hold elections soon, like what are they saying? If they have public popularity, then why are they in tension? Elections are expected in October according to the fixed period. If they are popular, their government will be formed. Why are so many people dying for this that the generals are being asked to play roles which are nothing but violation of the constitution?
There is no doubt that a good number of idiots are part of his fan club. But as a whole, the people of Pakistan are not at that low level of political consciousness, which is only the fixed position of the Yothias. Today, if people are facing difficulties in getting pulses, flour, it is only because of Imran Khan and his patrons. People do not complain about Shahbaz government that it has destroyed the economy. Rather, it is a shame that this government is not able to achieve any great success in containing the disaster of Imran Khan. Things are going on as they are. No journey of improvement has yet begun. And in this regard, what is being discussed at the public level is not that the PML-N is not able to deal with the economic crisis created by Imran Khan. Rather, they say that Shahbaz has proved incompetent, so Nawaz Sharif should come himself.
As if they are not looking at Imran Khan to replace Shehbaz but Nawaz Sharif. We are also criticizing the incompetence of the current government, so does this mean that we want Imran Khan’s government? Absolutely not, we consider Nawaz Sharif as the best option. We wish to see Imran Khan in jail for returning to Tosha Khana with fake certificates of Sadiq and Amin. Not that Imran Khan does not know all this. They also know that the people neither gave them power in 2018 nor hope to meet them in the future. So all their hopes are this time also from the same gate number four which came in handy in 2018. And that is why they are looking less at the public and more at GHQ. All the hard work is going on to ram the GHQ. But there is so much wisdom in General Headquarters.
