KARACHI: Sindh Police have decided to stage a protest demanding an increase in their salaries, similar to the protest by federal government employees in Islamabad, it has been revealed.
Sources said that the policemen including head constables and Assistant Superintendents (AS) and other lower staff have intensified their contacts to formulate a coherent strategy and demand their rights. They have decided to boycott their duties and the provision of VIP security.
Similar to the provinces, there is a sense of resentment among the lower staff of Sindh Police as their pay scale has not been upgraded which creates a sense of deprivation.
Well informed sources said the Sindh police personnel are waiting for the outcome of the protest of federal employees in Islamabad A final decision on the protest by Sindh police officers is expected soon.
Sources said that reports of protests by police personnel have raised concern among higher authorities and the threat to boycott VIP duty could disturb peace in the city.
