BEIJING: Popular Chinese-owned Video app TikTok has introduced strict laws and conditions on video sharing.
A spokesperson of the social media app said the TikTok app will now flag unverified videos in order to thwart the spread of misinformation on this platform.
Under the new laws and conditions, a new feature will appear on the screen of the video creator and especially when it is not verified while reviewing the video. If this video is posted, it will show a warning label just like Facebook.
Byte Dance, the parent company of TikTok in a blog post discusses said that since the app is responsible for the video released on the application, they will do their best to put off misinformation on it.
Byte Dance said the videos of TikTok were presented in the form of news, scientific information or political information that could be misrepresented.
Likewise, in the case of some unverified and invalid videos, popups that prevent posting will also appear. People will be able to see this warning even if it is posted. Details of the warning will be sent to the user immediately. At present, these new changes have started in the United States and Canada, but soon the whole world will be able to see it.
Earlier, TikTok had said that it is not in talks with its rival, Triller, for selling giving ownership of operations in the United States.
A spokesperson of the social media app confirmed the news while talking to a US-based business news channel. The spokesperson said, “We can confirm that we are not and will not be in talks with them. Still, we are flattered by how much they admire TikTok.”
