ISLAMABAD: Accountability court has issued a summon notice by an advertisement of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over continuous absence in courts in a case related to Toshakhana reference.
The accountability court has given him the last chance to appear and respond in Toshakhana reference till 17th August. On the other hand, the arrest warrant of former president Asif Ali Zardari has been sent to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The arrest warrant has been issued against Rs. 50,000 indemnity bonds. The warrant states that if Asif Zardari does not appear, he should be arrest and be presented before the court.
In the previous hearing, the court had issued a bailable arrest warrant against Zardari in the Toshakhana case. Zardari’s lawyer, Farooq H.Naek had given a statement in court that his plaintiff will appear before the court in the next hearing.

According to NAB, Zardari and Nawaz Sharif obtained cars from the Toshakana (gift depository) by paying 15% of the cars’ price through fake accounts while Gilani allegedly facilitated them.
Zardari also received the cars as a gift from Libya and the UAE when he was president and used them for his personal use instead of depositing them in the treasury. Nawaz was not holding any public office in 2008 but was given a vehicle without any justification.
The Toshakhana gift to the head of the state remains the property of the government unless sold at an open auction. Officials can retain gifts with a market value of less than Rs10,000 without paying anything.
