Indian actor Shatrughan Sinha meets President Alvi in Lahore

LAHORE: Indian politician and former actor Shatrughan Sinha on Saturday met President Dr Arif Alvi during an event at the Governor House in Lahore.

The President expressed his deep concern over the human rights violations by Indian security forces in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the persecution of Indian minorities, particularly Muslims, who are being discriminated against and oppressed under the Citizenship Amendment Act.

The president also highlighted Prime Minister Imran Khan’s peace overtures that have been unfortunately spurned by the Modi government.

In response to Dr Alvi’s statement that Azad Kashmir is a completely peaceful area, Sinha proposed that parliamentarians from both sides of the aisle in India should be invited to visit AJK to see the situation on the ground.

Both agreed that there was a strong need to work for the promotion of peace in the subcontinent. Sinha had also attended the marriage ceremony of the president’s son Dr Awab Alvi in 2001 in Karachi.

The president’s son said that it was a pleasure to see Stratughan Sinha back in Pakistan after so many years since the actor attended his wedding back in 2001. He said that leaders like Prime Minister Imran Khan, President Arif Alvi, and Sinha could lead peace efforts between India and Pakistan.

The legendary Bollywood actorwas spotted attending the wedding ceremony of his Pakistani friend’s son in Lahore as pictures and videos went viral on social media.

About his visit to Pakistan, Sinha said that he would always remember the hospitality and love of Pakistani fans and that he feels good whenever he comes to the country.

Pakistani actress Reema Khan shared photos with Shatrughan Sinha from a wedding ceremony in Lahore which confirmed that he had attended the event.
