KARACHI: Karachi is experiencing another hot and humid day, while weather conditions may become more active in the city’s outskirts after noon, with thunderstorms and rain possible in several suburban areas.
According to a weather analyst, temperatures in Karachi are expected to remain between 38°C and 40°C today. However, high humidity combined with the intense heat may make conditions feel significantly hotter in some parts of the city, with the heat index potentially reaching 42°C to 48°C.
The Meteorological Department said that cloud development could intensify after 12pm to 1pm as winds from different directions converge around the city. This may trigger thunderstorms, strong winds and rain, particularly in suburban areas.
Areas including Bahria Town, DHA City, Gadap, Behar, Dumba Goth, Scheme 33, Malir, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Port Qasim and Steel Town, along with adjoining localities, could experience gusty winds accompanied by thunderstorms and rainfall.
Light to moderate rain is also possible in other parts of Karachi, with the probability estimated at 45% to 60%. However, as the monsoon system has weakened, rainfall activity is expected to remain relatively limited in the city’s central and densely populated areas.
Weather experts say the intense heat could further support the development of localized convective clouds, potentially resulting in sudden thunderstorms and showers in some areas. Despite the possibility of localized weather activity, no major spell of heavy rainfall has been forecast for Karachi at present.
