To register for the scheme, eligible citizens will be required to send an SMS using a SIM registered in their name, following the prescribed format. The registration message must include the applicant’s Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number, vehicle registration number, provincial code and registration date.

Once the registration has been successfully completed, applicants will receive a confirmation message on their mobile phones.

Before visiting a petrol station, registered citizens will have to send the word “TOK” to 9771. They will then be required to show the digital token received on their mobile phone to obtain petrol at the discounted rate.

Under the scheme, eligible citizens will receive a Rs100-per-litre discount on petrol. Owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc will be eligible for the relief.

Motorcycle and rickshaw owners will be entitled to up to 20 litres of discounted petrol per month, while owners of vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc will be eligible for up to 30 litres per month.

The scheme will begin in Islamabad on the night between Monday and Tuesday, while it will be rolled out across the country on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
