ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned Pakistan cricketers Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan, and another player for questioning after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took custody of the players’ mobile phones.
According to media reports, the PCB had taken the players’ mobile phones into its custody and handed them over to the relevant authorities. The NCCIA is now examining data obtained from the devices, and the three players are expected to be questioned as part of the inquiry.
The PCB has not yet officially disclosed the reason for taking the players’ mobile phones into custody.
The development comes after Pakistan suffered defeats in the first two matches of its Test series against England. Following the disappointing results, the PCB made major changes to the squad and removed several players and members of the coaching staff.
Earlier, the PCB had also sought a written explanation from a member of the selection committee over the inclusion of Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan in the squads for the England and West Indies tours.
