The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested trader Mahmood Lakhani during a raid at the Sadar Gold and Silver Market for allegedly producing silver illegally.

According to details, the operation was carried out following a complaint filed by Qasim Shikarpuri, president of the All Pakistan Gold Jewellers Association.

During the raid, the FIA recovered silver-processing machines and a large quantity of silver bars.

Qasim Shikarpuri said the jewellers’ community would not tolerate anyone involved in illegal activities, the production of counterfeit metals or money laundering. He urged the relevant authorities to continue taking indiscriminate action against such elements to ensure that the business environment remains transparent and compliant with the law.

The FIA is continuing its interrogation of the arrested suspect. Investigations are also underway to determine the legal status of the recovered equipment and materials, as well as any possible network linked to the alleged activity.
