KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Adverse weather conditions, particularly thunderstorms and rain, disrupted flight operations at several airports across Pakistan on Monday, affecting the schedule of 55 domestic and international flights, according to flight schedule data.

According to reports gathered by MM News, Islamabad airport was among the worst affected, with 16 flights delayed by up to seven hours due to thunderstorms in the capital and surrounding areas.

The disruption was also felt on routes connecting Karachi and Islamabad, with six flights from Karachi to Islamabad delayed by between 1.5 and seven hours amid the rainy weather.

At Lahore airport, 14 flights were delayed by between one and 11 hours. Among the affected services was Pakistan International Airlines flight PA-41 from Dubai to Lahore, which was delayed by 11 hours.

Two flights operating from Lahore to Jeddah were delayed by up to 10 hours, while a Lahore-Sharjah flight was delayed by 11 hours. A flight arriving from Kuala Lumpur to Lahore was also delayed by around 5.5 hours.

At Karachi airport, nine flights were delayed by between one and three hours, adding to disruptions caused by the prevailing weather conditions.

Flight operations at Multan airport were also affected, with six flights to Sharjah, Dubai and Madinah delayed by between one and 10 hours.

Meanwhile, five flights from Sialkot to Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi faced delays of up to 2.5 hours.

The disruptions come as an active monsoon system continues to affect several parts of the country.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms have recently been reported in Punjab, Islamabad and adjoining areas, while authorities have issued warnings regarding urban flooding, rising river flows and other weather-related hazards.

The latest delays were attributed to a combination of weather and administrative issues, with thunderstorms and heavy rainfall affecting flight schedules and airport operations.

ADVISORY

Passengers have been advised to check with their respective airlines or airports for updated departure and arrival information before travelling, as flight schedules can change at short notice during adverse weather.
