KARACHI: Local police are reported to have officially upgraded the case regarding the death of 25-year-old entrepreneur and IBA graduate Mir Raza Ali, adding Section 302 (Murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) to the primary case filed at the Ferozabad Police Station.
Media reports suggest the formal amendment to FIR No. 795/2026—which was originally registered as a kidnapping case under Section 365 PPC—comes directly on the heels of the recent court-ordered grave exhumation and preliminary re-postmortem findings.
– Addition of Section 302: Law enforcement authorities confirmed that the murder charge was incorporated after medical findings formally disproved early police assumptions that Mir Raza had committed suicide.
– Re-Postmortem Impact: The physical examination conducted by the restored eight-member medical board established that the fatal bullet entered through the back/waist area and exited through the chest, while also identifying pre-death physical trauma and broken ribs.
– Fresh Investigation Directive: With murder charges officially invoked, the newly constituted Joint Investigation Team (JIT) will take complete charge of the case file to launch a comprehensive, fresh inquiry.
Summary of Previous Developments
Mir Raza vanished from his PECHS residence on July 28 after boarding an online taxi. While police initially promoted a suicide narrative citing alleged crypto-trading losses, fierce pushback from family attorney Jibran Nasir and Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed exposed 14 critical flaws in the first autopsy.
Following a brief standoff over an altered medical panel, the original board was restored to perform Saturday’s exhumation.
The forensic findings disproving self-inflicted harm ultimately forced police high command to dissolve the previous probe team and formally convert the investigation into an active murder inquiry.
