SHEIKHUPURA: Constable Saghar Nishan of the Crime Control Department (CCD) was martyred after unknown assailants opened indiscriminate fire on him in Sheikhupura late on the night of July 22, 2026.
The attack, also captured on CCTV, occurred when the assailants spotted the officer, seriously injuring him. Despite immediate medical attention, Constable Nishan succumbed to his injuries.
The Punjab Police have paid tribute to the martyred officer, honoring his service and sacrifice. Authorities have assured full support to his grieving family and stated that efforts are actively underway to apprehend the accused.
Funeral Held with Official Honors
The funeral prayers for Constable Saghar Nishan Hanjra were held with official honors at Police Line Sheikhupura. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including RPO Sheikhupura Range Athar Ismail, DIG CCD Waqas-ul-Hassan, DPO Sheikhupura Bilal Zafar Sheikh, SSP CCD Nausher Awan, and SP Hanan. Senior police officers, personnel, and representatives from various segments of society, including President Press Club Azeem Ahmed Yazdani, President District Bar Association Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed Virk, business community representatives, political figures, and a large number of citizens, were present to pay their respects.
The Punjab Police have assured the family to bringing the perpetrators to justice as investigations continue.
