Pakistan’s rice export sector has achieved a significant milestone, with a delegation from the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) securing orders for 60,000 metric tons of Pakistani rice from Chinese buyers during an official visit to China.
According to REAP, the development reflects the growing demand for Pakistani rice in the Chinese market and the confidence of Chinese importers in its quality.
Pakistani rice has gained increasing popularity among international buyers due to its premium quality, distinctive aroma, competitive pricing, and reliable supply.
The delegation, led by REAP Senior Vice Chairman Muhammad Javed Jillani, held a series of business meetings with leading rice importers, distributors, and traders in the Chinese cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
During the meetings, the delegation showcased Pakistan’s high-quality rice varieties, including Basmati and non-Basmati rice, while also discussing opportunities to expand bilateral trade and establish long-term commercial partnerships between the two countries.
Muhammad Javed Jillani described the visit as a major achievement for Pakistan’s rice export industry, saying that securing orders for 60,000 metric tons reflects REAP’s continued efforts to promote Pakistani rice in international markets.
He noted that China remains a strategically important market for Pakistan’s rice industry and offers significant opportunities for further growth. He added that such initiatives will not only boost Pakistan’s rice exports but also strengthen economic and trade relations between Pakistan and China.
Former REAP Chairman Rafique Suleman said Pakistani rice has earned a strong reputation among Chinese consumers due to its superior quality, distinctive fragrance, consistent standards, and competitive prices.
He emphasized that sustained engagement with international buyers and continued trade promotion efforts would enable Pakistan to further expand its share of the global rice market.
