The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday continued its bullish momentum with the benchmark KSE-100 Index surging nearly 3,800 points.
At close, the KSE-100 Index settled at 184,050.10, an increase of 3,748.40 points, or 2.08%.
Strong buying interest was witnessed across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies, oil marketing companies (OMCs), and power generation. Index-heavy stocks such as ARL, OGDC, POL, PPL, MCB, NBP, and UBL traded firmly in positive territory.
The rally follows the benchmark index’s robust performance in FY2025-26, when it surged 44% to end the fiscal year on a record high. Improved macroeconomic stability under Pakistan’s IMF-supported reform program, easing inflation, and growing investor confidence helped fuel the sustained bullish momentum.
The KSE-100 concluded the final trading session of FY2025-26 at 180,301 points, marking a 44% increase from 125,627 points at the close of the previous fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the annual inflation rate in the country rose to 11.1% in June 2026, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
On a month-on-month basis, inflation declined by 0.3% in June 2026, compared with an increase of 0.5% in May 2026. In June 2025, monthly inflation had increased by 0.2%.
For the fiscal year 2025-26, average inflation was recorded at 7.05%, compared with 4.49% during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
