Actor Mamta Kulkarni has taken a major step in her spiritual journey, leaving behind her film career to embrace a life of renunciation. On Friday, Kulkarni assumed the new identity of ‘Mai Mamta Nand Giri’ during a ceremony at the Kinnar Akhara in the ongoing Maha Kumbh.
The 52-year-old actress, who had a successful film career, took ‘sanyas’ and underwent a consecration ceremony. She was blessed by Acharya Laxmi Narayan Tripathi and Mahant Ravindra Puri, key spiritual figures. Kulkarni also performed the sacred ‘Pind Daan’ ritual on the banks of the Ganges.
