DJ Unk, the rapper best known for his 2006 snap hit “Walk It Out,” has died at the age of 43. His wife, Sherkita Long Platt, shared the tragic news on Facebook on January 24, 2025.
In her emotional post, Sherkita expressed her grief, stating, “Please respect me and my family. I just lost my husband, and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same.” She ended her message with, “I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER,” but did not provide details about the cause of his death.

DJ Unk, born Anthony Leonard Platt, released his platinum-certified hit “Walk It Out” in 2006, featured in his album Beat’n Down Yo Block! The track made its mark on the Billboard Hot 100, where it reached the top 10, and also dominated the Hot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. Following that success, his follow-up single, “2 Step,” also gained attention.
In 2009, DJ Unk faced undisclosed health issues that affected his career. However, he later returned to music, releasing more singles and being featured in the 2K Sports NBA 2K9 video game.
