KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and MNA from Krachi Mahmood Moulvi has expressed serious concerns over the rising prices of wheat flour and has urged Sindh government to provide wheat to the flour mills on support rate so that they could provide flour to the people at the rate of Rs.110 per Kg.
In a statement on Monday, the lawmaker lamented that the price of flour has reached to Rs.150 per kg and it is difficult for poor to afford it.
“Sindh government has wasted Rs. 50 billion in the name of subsidy for cheap flour, but the poor are still moving from pillar to post for the cheap flour,” he added.
He urged the Sindh government to end the Rs. 12 billion monthly subsidy and instead provide wheat to the mills on support price of Rs. 100 per Kg. “The price of flour will reduce to Rs 110 per kg if the mills receive wheat at the support price,” he maintained.
Moulvi advised the provincial government to provide the subsidy amount to the deserved people directly like Ehsaas program.
