ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad district and sessions court on Saturday extended remand of PTI Senator Azam Swati in the custody of Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) by another day in a case pertaining to a tweet against state institutions, including the army chief.
Before being produced in the court, Azam Swati was taken to the PIMS Hospital for a medical examination.
During today’s proceedings in the court of Judge Muhammad Bashir, Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi alleged that the accused [Azam Swati] was continuously running a campaign from his verified Twitter account, and that the authorities needed to recover his phone and some devices used to post the controversial tweet.

After hearing the arguments, Judge Muhammad Bashir reserved the judgement for about half an hour and later extended Azam Swati’s remand in FIA custody for one more day.
