ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) MNA Chaudhry Salik Hussain has been appointed Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority.
The appointment comes after PML-Q parliamentarian on Friday took as federal cabinet minister. He replaced former Special Assistant on CPEC Affairs Khalid Mansoor.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain is the son of PML-Q President and veteran politician Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. A day earlier, former president Asif Ali Zardari had met Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to seek his consent for inclusion of his son in the federal cabinet.
Chaudhry Shujaat reportedly told Zardari that he would have no objection to his son’s inclusion in the cabinet of PM Shehbaz Sharif if it serves the nation
Zardari had expressed a deep desire to see Chaudhry Salik Hussain in the federal cabinet under any circumstances. Zardari had thanked Shujaat for his support during the recent political turmoil and decided to continue political consultations in future as well.
He also thanked Shujaat for keeping his words at a time of political polarisation. Shujaat also appreciated Zardari for sticking to his commitments. The leaders agreed what had happened in the Punjab Assembly could have been avoided.
