The results of the recently held written examination for doctor positions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been announced, revealing that 81 percent of the candidates failed the recruitment test.
According to media reports, the examination was conducted by the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) for 8,115 vacancies of medical officers. A total of 8,974 candidates appeared for the written test.
As per the results, only 1,766 candidates passed the exam, while 7,208 candidates—amounting to 81 percent—failed to meet the required criteria.
The alarming number of unsuccessful candidates has sparked deep concerns about the competence of medical graduates seeking public sector positions. Experts and officials stress the urgent need to enhance medical education and strengthen exam preparation to improve future recruitment outcomes.
Moreover, this significant failure rate risks slowing down the hiring process, exacerbating the already critical shortage of doctors in government hospitals, particularly in underserved regions.
