Malaria outbreak in Sindh: 90,853 cases reported in 2026

KARACHI: Malaria outbreak in Sindh is reported to have deepened lately, with the province’s health department reporting a staggering 90,853 malaria cases in 2026.

Health experts have warned that the crisis demands urgent attention as the disease spreads rapidly across districts.

Malaria outbreak: Karachi’s rising concern

Karachi, though relatively less affected, still faces a significant challenge. The city recorded 772 malaria cases, with Malir district leading at 249 cases.

Southern and western districts reported 164 and 140 cases, respectively. Korangi, Central, Eastern, and Kemari districts also contributed to the rising toll.

Hyderabad division malaria surge alarms authorities

Beyond Karachi, the Hyderabad division reported the highest cases of Malaria at 35,094, followed by Larkana (27,057) and Sukkur (9,949).

Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpur Khas recorded 10,200 and 7,781 cases, respectively. The malaria outbreak in Sindh underscores the need for immediate action.

Health officials warn that without intervention, the situation could worsen. The Hyderabad division malaria surge highlights the urgency of preventive measures.
