HYDERABAD: At least 50 affectees of Tezgam Express remained missing after four days of the incident. The missing persons were the residents of Mirpurkhas and Umerkot districts.
According to sources, Deputy Commissioner of Mirpurkhas, Syed Attaullah Shah Bukhari organized transport of 16 people to provide DNA samples. They traveled to Rahim Yar Khan by road. On the other hand, many families left for Rahim Yar Khan on their own soon after the news of unfortunate fire broke.
They families of victims were informed that the DNA test reported will come out after seven days, added sources.
Missing persons also include two brothers; Yousuf and Yaqoob Bhatti from Umerkot. Their relative Faqir Muhammad Bhatti, resident of Kunri, a small town in Umerkot is also reportedly missing in the fire as well.
One more injured of the Tezgam fire who was the resident of Mirpurkhas died during the treatment in Multan.
Earlier, At least 73 people were killed and several injured when fire broke out in three bogies of Tezgam Express at Liaquatpur in Rahim Yar Khan on Thursday morning.
According to sources, the train was traveling to Rawalpindi from Karachi when it caught fire due to explosion in one of the gas cylinders. The fire engulfed three train carriages in no time.
One business class bogie and two economy class bogies were completely destroyed due to high fire, added sources.
The first funerals of 74 deceased of Tezgam express fire took place today on Friday.
According to sources, the dead bodies were arrived from the site of the incident. The funeral held at Bismillah Mosque.
At least 42 people who died in the unfortunate fire incident were belonged to the mosque. They boarded on the train to attend a religious gathering near Lahore.
